BE A SWITCHER – DOUBLE YOUR SAVINGS ON ENERGY BILLS

You could DOUBLE your savings on energy by switching BOTH your electric and gas from your current providers to a new provider.

It sounds simple, however most people fear doing it. Why? They think it may disrupt their supply of gas or electric or they think it might mean workmen putting in new gas pipes or electric cables. We can tell you it doesn’t affect you at all except for the big savings you will make on your energy bills.

These days providers use the same infrastructure. It a bit like the rails for trains they all run on the same pipes and cables. So you won’t have any disruption and it will usually be a very smooth transfer from one provider to the other.

Don’t be afraid to compare and switch – remember you make bigger savings when you move BOTH electric and gas to one new provider.

You can compare energy providers on price comparison websites to find the best deals available to you.

You don't need to know anything about energy to switch provider and save money

WE JOINED THE SWITCHERS AND SAVED DOUBLE OUR ENERGY BILLS

Our family had two energy providers, British Gas and Southern Electric. Like most families we looked on in dismay as both energy bills shot up last year. Then I knew I had to do something, so I looked to compare providers and discovered the best deals were when you switched both of them to one new provider.

My wife was anxious as I was looking at moving the gas and electric so she worried that we risked no power or worse no dinner with the gas oven out of action. So I asked some friends who had moved too and they assured me that there would be no such issues.

When I compared providers the best deal was for Octopus Energy.  I was surprised how easy it was to make the switch. None of my wife’s concerns came to fruition and as a family we could see the benefit of reduced gas and energy bills that winter.

In the case of Octopus Energy , yes there were big savings and that was not all. We had better service and I love the app where I simply take my own readings and get the bill straightaway so I know what we’re using and to expect in cost. We wished we had taken the time and had the confidence to change earlier as British Gas by comparison were not only more expensive they whole service and billing system was outdated.

So don’t be afraid to become a switcher you could save DOUBLE and get a better service from your new provider like we did when we switched provider

MORE WAYS TO SAVE ON ENERGY BILLS

USE LESS ENERGY AND PAY LESS

Plan to reduce how much energy you use in your home this winter:

  • Don’t have water on timer and turn it on only when you know it will be used (or its just wasted)
  • Agree to turn on heating only after 4pm and limit the time its on to 2-3 hours (saves a lot)
  • Unplug and turn off devices that you’re not using e.g TV on standby can use a lot of energy
  • Plan to have a low energy hour when everything is turned off and you go out or chill at home
  • Share the savings plan with your family so everyone helps you to reduce your bills

GET A SMART METER TO CONTROL USAGE

Ask your provider to install one so you can identify the gas/electric guzzlers in your home

  • Plan to limit the use of these and you will see results on the smart meter immediately
  • Big guzzlers tend to be tumble dryers so try to dry clothes on heated airers or your radiators
  • It’s the same with dishwashers, wait until they’re full to push that button to reduce usage

SWITCH ENERGY PROVIDER TO SAVE MONEY

Use a price comparison site to compare prices as you may be able to make savings

  • Sadly energy companies don’t reward loyalty so it is better to shop around to save money
  • You can often save more by switching your gas and electric and moving it to one provider
  • It’s easy to switch and doesn’t mean any disruption in supply to your home
  • All you will notice is the bill coming from your new provider instead of the old one
  • Less people make this switch as they think it’s complicated – its simple to switch and save
